Living in Japan, it's been impossible to buy this anywhere, so I'm glad I found it here. The nostalgia is real and playing this version (instead of the ultimate later-released version) means I get the XBOX 360 experience I was craving. Works flawlessly on Windows 10 with the provided Zip files and setup. Highly highly recommended! A+++++++++

Excellent game. Well worth the $10. It's the original authentic retail DVD copy too, just digital.

Setup was very easy, just follow instructions. Once the DVD files install, you then need to actually install the game itself, and then you can delete all the extra files. The gow_update file works, but it didn't allow the GFWL to work. I would hit home and nothing would happen. You need to poke around the internet and find the GFWL redistributable, do NOT download the marketplace app. It has been discontinued and is useless.

Once the redistributable is installed, launch gears of war again and sigh into your microsoft account, there you can input the CD key and start playing online. People still play, not as much as back then, but on weekends you can find quite a few matches. Hope to see more people online again!

Awesome game finally get to play on PC. After struggling to find out how to get this game to get the GFWL achievements I found this wonderful website which lets me do it for cheap. Thank you!

Switch game by Namco a first serious cover shooter of the 2000s but it was Gears of War (2006) game which really kicked the whole phenomena off.
I have to say the graphic stood test of time well and the game looks better on high settings than let's say Gears of War Ultimate on low to mid settings (!) which is telling about the quality of the remaster, I think.
Game for Windows service is still in working order so you will still be able to unlock your achievements given that you are online cuz getting them offline is a feature exclusive to Xbox 360 versions of games regarding GFWL/Xbox Live similarities and differences.
Also, there are still ways to get into multiplayer as well as hosting an online co-op with friend just google it up. I think that pretty much sums everything relevant about the game.

Installing the game may be the sort of game itself and that is the main advantage of purchasing it from here. In order to bypass most of the hassle with mostly beyond any repair incompatible disc-based versions you can just buy this download from GD directly. They will supply you with a patch which is a compilation of all patches released since the Gears of War for Windows emergence. I recommend to back up all the files in case the shop will go belly up at some point in the future. Gaming Dragons will also provide you with unique and working GFWL key. For any issues after the install, there is a support willing to give you an advice. There may be plethora of problems getting this port running which was quite buggy since day one, but for every possible problem there is a solution.

I personally had three problems getting the game working:
1) game was setting up in a windowed mode crashing after cinematics – solved by deleting the game profile from Documents/My Games/Gears of war. After that I was allowed to enter my GFWL key.

2) The game wanted a DVD at launch – solved by using a game fix for launcher.

3) The game does not save graphics settings after quitting the game. I changed resolution from 800x600 to full HD set everything at high and on the next launch everything was always back to default settings with resolution at basic 800x600 – solved by forcing the settings directly from Documents/My Games/Gears of War for Windows/Binaries/WarGame/WarEngineUserSettings.ini Variation of this bug even plagued version 1.7 of Gears of War Ultimate in march 2016.

My friend whom I referred bought Gears of War for Windows from gaming Dragons as well. He installed it in the same way in accordance with instructions as me and he suffered no problems described above. You really are stepping on precarious grounds by buying this digital download. It may work as a charm immediately or it may need some tweaks first in order to function properly.

I recommend this despite some hoops of getting it running.

I can confirm that the GFWL key which will be provided by GamingDragon after the purchase of this Gears Of War 1 GFWL Game works fine with no doubts.I Recently bought one for my self and you can get your key after the purchase .Anyway but you may need to identify yourself by sending them a copy of your ID to GamingDragons. With this Gears of War 1 GFWL key you can still enjoy the fun part of Coop Campaign though you miss the versus matches.

Way to many issues that are not detailed for the install. not worth buying just buy off amazon or used from your local game store.

Game is working now but the download speed was quite inconsistent. Fluctuating between 10 MB/s and 100 KB/s on my PC

Lack of instructions detailing to set date time to 2008 and problems that may arise with Run time error.

Game is only in english but i have found a german language patch and now i can play it in my native language and in original english. Great Game!

This was a great buy. Excellent game for an excellent price. If your a fan of the Gears franchise but never played the original this is a must get. The campaign for this game is thrilling all the way through to the end. The online game play is also a great change of pace. There are many modes and fun games to play online. Overall a great buy

This game is a classic charm me so to speak able to play a while, your story is amazing, from start to finish could not help but be surprised, no doubt there are games that remain in history as the best and this is one of them, I hope I can see more games gears of war for PC. I recommend this game without doubt, buy it remained fully satisfied, it can be absolutely sure.

This game is is a classic. If you like shooters and you've never played it I highly recommend it. Lots of fun gameplay and a solid story.

It is also worth noting that Gaming Dragons has done a pretty great job providing instructions for getting the game up and running. I'm running on Windows 10 and had no issues getting the game to work. I only mention it because you never know what you're going to get when you buy something that isn't on Steam ;)

Gears of Wars has to be one of the best as well sureel game of the last generation.The game that display cover mechanics and a fluid multiplayer experience ahs surpassed many fans expectations.
If someone who is new to gaming He/She must try this out.

Its still a fun multi game not sure its really that worth it if you have already played it a lot on 360 when it orginally released. People are still playing it online which is great. It sucks though because the netcode it uses is not so great. Graphics are great for its time and it runs well on pc.

Gears of war is my all time favorite game.

My friend tate and i have logged so many hours on this game on 360 that we can be considered pro's at the online, if u don't know how many hours that is go ahead and look i'll wait...okay did u check? that's a lot of hours huh? well that's how good this game is. There are a few differences bewteen the 360 version there are 3 extra online maps that im pretty sure they added to gears 2 and there is an extra 2 hours of missions in the campain which are getting added to the ultimate edition on xbox one and pc. So if your looking to buy this to amp up for the new edition than i would recomend buying it here rather than from amazon it's 70 fucking bucks oh and if your going to use a 360 controller for this on pc you will want to keep a few things in mind the game is designed for keyboard and mosue so getting on walls is a bit different sometimes the controls won't work the way u want, and most people will be using a keyboard and mouse which is a much more responsive interface but this game was made for controller so if u take the time to learn and have patience than u will be able to get better and take them mouse chukkers to the bank lol.

This was my first time playing Gears of War. After patching the game and installing the games for windows live client game works flawlessly and you can save your game or settings as well as bring up the xbox dashboard (I have a silver account of course).

The verdict this game is definitely as good as it was hyped up to be even 8 years after it came out. Screen tearing on my 4.4GHz i7 gta 760 16gb ram was fixed in the Nvidia control panel global settings and this game looks and plays solid. Great guns, high difficulty even on lowest and variety of aliens to slaughter. Buy this game or the remastered PC version with multiplayer coming out shortly. 5/5 a must play even for an uncharted fan like myself.

I had a few error pop up while installing but after i patched and loaded up the game it worked first try. Delivery took 3 hours but everything is working and good. This is legit. This is a real review I was worried about shabby practices at first but i will be coming to this site till otherwise.

Just to point out to people, I am doing this review for my most favorite game series of all time, so please expect this review to be a little bias in places due to this reason.
I had bought this for the 360 around 2007 and back then I did not own a PC nor did I think about gaming on a PC back then. When I played it on the 360, I really enjoyed the game and would have played at least an hour on it per day. - whether it was on campaign or if it was for versus mode, I played it for at least an hour a night.
Due to only starting to get into gaming back then, I thought that this was one of the best games around, even today I think that it is still one of the best game series' around.
Now on to the differences - I have only played about an hour or so on the computer version due to it being my first time playing it today after my purchase of the game, again, only today. At first sight when I had adjusted the video settings to the max, as I knew that my PC could easily handle it, the cutscene at the begining of the campaign story was immeditely better than the 360. The clearity of the video was clearer and shown much more detail than what the 360 version had to offer.
The next thing I attempted was using the controller initially - I don't usually use a controller for action games on the PC - and I didn't really see any difference between the PC and the 360 versions, so therefore after a short period of about 10 minutes, I changed to the Keyboard and Mouse - as I prefer on PC - I've got to say, I prefer the layout of the keyboard and mouse version than that I do of the controller on the 360, it just feels like it is meant for PC to me. Due to playing the game so much on the 360, I immeditely saw the difference in the way the camera moves. the character (In the campain, it would be Marcus), everything moves so much smoother than I thought of that on the 360. How I remember the 360 version to be is for it to be slow and `sticky` at times, whereas on the PC version it seems to run a lot better overall.
I've got to say, after my short period of playing the PC version, I much prefer the PC version than that I do of the 360 version now.
Pros;
Better overall graphics on PC - as long as your PC can handle it on max settings (won't take much now due to the game being around 7/8 year old).
Better controls on Keyboard/Mouse layout than on Controller (If you count the 360).
Better movement than the 360 version and makes it seem like the game runs slightly faster on PC.
Cons;
Make sure you have at least 20GB of hard drive space before attempting to download and install - I count this as a con as I am limited on HD space and had to move a few files around to be able to install the game.

This game is a totally awesome game! Definitely worth the purchase, though this was originally made years ago and I believe Gears of War 4 is out now, so the first one I wouldn't of thought would be priced more than £4.99, but at the current price if the PC version has been ported well, then it would be worth it still even at £11.99.

The gameplay is awesome, the storyline is awesome, the graphics are really good; using the Unreal Engine can't go wrong! The multiplayer was really difficult, and a good competitive challenge. AI was done really well, and putting the game on the hardest difficulty will really push your patience and skills to the max! The gameplay has some awesome features such as being able to use your weapon to chainsaw the enemy in half or being able to pickup the enemy when he's down to either use as your protection or to kill them.

I would highly recommend this game as this is one of the games you have to play and complete. Hopefully they bring out the others out on PC so you can continue the story with the characters.

Gameplay - 8/10 (the other games I found was even better regarding gameplay)

Very great place to purchase digital copy of Gears of War PC and the cheapest I ever seen too!. This is definitely one of my favorite games of all time, I'm glad I found this site through a fellow Gears of War Player. I admit, first i was hesitant of the legitimacy of this site, but in fact it is definitely a trusted site after I got alot of strong recommendations from people about this site.

This game came out almost a decade to go and to this day still one of my favorite go to third person shooters. The online multiplayer is fun and competitive . The mechanics to this game are like no other and began a likable style that alot of other games have copied. Never had it on the PC but now I can finally say I do thanks to Gaming Dragons.

It is very difficult to install on new windows 8.1 but when you do it is worth it.
The game is a classic and one of the best, if not the best 3rd person shooters to ever hit a console/PC. Highly recommend this game and ion 60 FPS it is smooth bodying with the gnasher for sure.

Where should I start 1st.. Hmm let's see.. Gears of War definitely one of the best third person shooter ... considered to be classic one nowadays. OK fine in terms of gameplay it's not the original idea.. the cover based shooter. But in terms of game that popularized the genre... it's definitely something new at that time

I hope this isn't inappropriate but I will extremely enjoy partaking in thc stimulus while playing this marvelous game. I've been a fan of all gears games and will without a doubt say that the early games are better than the later ones. Yet still happiness is achieved when playing judgement and gears 3. Still Gears 1 from my own personal perspective is for sure a classic if any of the games appeal to you.
