Nostalgia at it\'s best
Most of the people playing this game will be fans of the original Mafia from the early 2000s. As one of these enthusiasts (completed the original game about 20 times) I have to say that I am really thankfull for the way the devs have transfered the classic to the modern times.
Graphics are really nice and up to date, the style of the city is as in the original, but there are more details, sharper textures, modern lightning, etc. Here you can also see a first difference to the old game, main characters are brought to life via motion capturing now a days, so they couldn't use the old modells. but the new actors are a good fit, Sam for example is even better than before. So also the voice over had to change to the voices of the actors, but again, they do a really good job. The original orchestrial soundtrack is in remastered form included, Music unfortunately does not have the original tracks due to license problems, the new music is good but can't live up to the cult of the original.
They also made slight changes to the story, but these are with all respect to the old game and make sense. I don't want to spoil things but I think I can say, that Sarah has a bigger part in the story, to make ist clear how important his family is for Tommy, which makes sense, because they are the reason for working together with inspector Norman.
So if you liked the original, just enjoy this technical fine and respectfull remake, which brings the game to the modern era.
